SME company Westburg chooses SAP Business One On Demand

International Cloud solution replaces expensive and outdated centralised IT system.

Below is the press release announcing Westburg’s implementation of SAP Business One OnDemand with IIS.

Den Bosch – 18th July 2012 – Westburg, specialist distributor for the  Life Sciences and Molecular Diagnostics industries, has selected SAP Business One OnDemand, a comprehensive ERP system for small and medium sized enterprises that operates on cloud technology.

Westburg uses an internet shop as well as an online order system for their customers, mainly laboratories, and selected online market places for a limited range of products. Although the company was sold off in a management buy-out a number of years ago, it still relies on its former parent company for administrative processes and business information. In line with the decision to focus more on disposable products, the company decided to update its order process and relating activities.

Better insight in current figures

On the back of changing its order and distribution processes, Westburg decided a better and up to minute insight in its financials was needed in order to be able to react more quickly and adequately to changes in the market. The implementation of SAP B1 On Demand is managed by BeABetterBusiness, part of the international SAP Business One Partner Intelligent Information Systems.

For an SME company with 25 people, we spend a relatively large amount on processing information’, says Jurjen Balkema, Commercial Director at Westburg. ‘We have been using Salesforce.com for quite some time now for our CRM and their way of using cloud technology, with the flexibility to upscale or downscale IT capacity, really appeals to us. That’s why we were looking for a cloud solution for our financial administration and logistic processes.

ERP in the cloud

Westburg’s Board selected their cloud provider with due care; ‘We carefully researched the services and products of the various cloud service providers in the Netherlands.’ Says Eppo Boneschanser, CEO. ‘We were very impressed by the wide range of functionalities SAP Business One OnDemand offers. We will not only have a state of the art ERP system, it will also include CRM functionalities, so much more functionality, while the local IT costs will decrease dramatically. A great bonus is that SAP’s cloud solution integrates well with Office 365, the Microsoft cloud-base Office functionalities, which we have been using for quite a while now.’

We are delighted with the confidence Westburg have in our cloud solution. Through SAP B1, we have made available our solutions, developed for mulitnationals, to SME’s; mobile apps, in-memory computing, and now Business OnDemand. Westburg is used to doing business on an international scale and the wide range of SAP Business One OnDemand functionalities meet their demands. There is an increasing interest with SME’s in replacing their expensive, self-managed, outdated IT systems with innovative and reliable cloud services. So much so, that our German head office has created a ‘SWAT’ team to support the transition to the cloud.’ Says Rinse Tamsma, Vice President SAP Global Indirect Channels.
